Dieting With Your Daughter Improves Long Term Health

Gynos say there are three phases to puberty first is the  development of formal thinking and processing as a more adult person, then the stages of adolescence that contribute to psychosocial development and final biologic processes. the menarche, the thelarche and the andrenarche, gonadarche  and pubarche, ( which stands for the ..periods, breasts,, the adrenal gland male hormones, and pubic hair development) accompanied by the final physical development of our body's organs, our size and our strength.  A girl's height shoots up at a fast pace around the time of the 'growth spurt' of puberty, and not quite 20%, closer to 18%, of one's eventual height growth occurs during this time. The first part of puberty is also accompanied by reductions in body fat percent as bones and muscles take president in the nutrition that spurs the growth. After age 16 girls tend to revert to gains because of gain in fat.

Body fat % can trigger earlier physiologic steps in this process, thus the heavier a girl is, in general, the earlier she will have her first period. Of course it goes without saying that the brain maturation and psychosocial development is not going to be affected by one's weight, we think, that research is still pending. Overweight or obese girls get their first period months earlier than their normal-weight peers, according to a new Danish study. And the normal sequence of events that should proceed at about 2.5 to 3 years from start to finish will not only proceed earlier in obese girls but it can proceed faster so that the current epidemic of obesity...currently at least 1/6 teens is making this more and more common place.

In a Medscape report they have noted early-onset menstruation can be linked to greater risks of later health problems such as breast cancer, according to Dr. Sarah Keim, a researcher at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, who commented by wasn't involved in the new study. Also a potential future concern for those with early puberty in conjunction with early obesity is  more heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol and other health concerns associated with obesity.

Also in that report they point out girls who start menstruating earlier are also more likely to have sex before most of their peers do, Dr. Keim added, which increases the risk of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. These girls are now on average getting their periods at about 12, or earlier. Whether it's genetics or the food on the dinner table the whole family enjoys the researchers also found that a girl's mother's weight is related to whether that girl is overweight, dating back to your pregnancy days. For every point her mother's prepregnancy BMI went up, the girl's period came about a week earlier, according to the new study, which appeared online March 10th in Fertility and Sterility. Healthy eating thus goes for the family as a whole. So for those who hate the word and concept of dieting, you still have "your diet together," and your health habits are a big effect on your girls habits. So go" halvies" now and then on sandwiches and portions, it's fun, it's together and it's healthy.

Passing Your Uterine Lining, Menstrual Period Norms

Decidual Cast Periods can be fairly easy, passing some tissue at a time, or off can come the whole lining in one piece called a decidual cast. Generally the lining of the uterus is only 6-8 mm thick at the time of the menstrual period, and it is shed gradually, a few cells at a time. The decidual cast is when the entire lining passes spontaneously.  It's not uncommon, but it usually both uncomfortable, and alarming to some. But us women are designed to have some sort of periods  Or Not? We have to pass tissue each month. Or Not? Are they good for us? Or Not? Do we want them? Or Not? Is this something that is individual? Or Not? It's a complex topic that I will be discussing a lot over my time in this blog. So lets start with basics: How much do we bleed and what are we loosing, and just what was this that the patient passed? And another basic: track your periods, and the Women's Health Practice site http://www.womenshealthpractice.com/media/pdf/menstrual_chart.pdf you...

Post-Endometrial Ablation Syndrome

If you have had an endometrial ablation and have developed symptoms of pelvic pain you might have post endometrial ablation syndrome. What is post-endometrial ablation syndrome? It is a constellation of symptoms due to entrapped blood or tissue within a uterus that has previously undergone an endometrial ablation. We are able to diagnose this at Women's Health Practic e but occasionally other conditions are causing similar symptoms. Other complications of endometrial ablation include pregnancy, risks from pre-existing conditions such as a polyp or fibroid, an infection of the uterus, or a pregnancy. If you have had a tubal ligation then it is possible that the condition could be post-ablation tubal sterilization syndrome. The ablation procedure is designed to destroy all lining tissue, but in fact there is no way to confirm the completeness of the ablation. It is thought that either residual or regrowth of the tissue is producing the symptoms of post-endometrial ablation syndrom...

You Have an IUD: But a Positive Pregnancy Test

Fortunately IUD pregnancy failures are rare. But if you have an IUD for contraception, and you get a positive pregnancy test, you probably ask yourself, what next? Well, make your gyno appointment promptly, this is a condition that is not typically an emergency, but it can be and it’s not handled over the phone or on a blog, or through self diagnosis! That being said, some researchers from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas decided to look back at over 4100 women who had IUDs and of those 42 cases who became pregnant in their institution, over about a year period of time, to help understand what these women could expect when they got to their gyno and what actually happened to their pregnancies. Accurate pregnancy diagnosis, pelvic examination, and pelvic ultrasound were the cornerstones of the evaluations. They had very specific ways they looked at their ultrasound to prove there was no pregnancy in the fallopian tube, or partially in the fallopian tube...
