Molluscum contagiosum

Molluscum Contagiosum A common viral infection, that produces these non-painful bumps often located in the genital region is called M olluscum contagiosum . It is a virus that will often resolve without treatment, and it's often seen in children. These firm bumps, that appear whitish can occur anywhere on the body, and many will actually occur on the abdomen, under your arms, or even on your back. Oddly it's from the same viral family that gives small pox, but it is a very harmless virus, unlike small pox (which is thankfully eradicated!).  People do catch it by skin to skin contact, and it's often seen in children. Apparently the virus is hearty enough to survive on items not human: towels and other things that kids might share! So it's not just sexual contact that causes these viruses to spread, but the gynos often seem them here, as in this picture.
