Mirena IUD and Uterine Fbroids

Uterine fibroids and what method of contraception you choose are two separate gynecologic issues, but if you have both there are many pros and cons to discover. The IUD first has to be inserted and there are some cases of  uterine fibroids take up some space in the cavity of the uterus and it's possilbe that the IUD would be expelled after insertion. Typically we say that only about 2% of all IUDs are expelled in the first year after insertion. With uterine fibroids that expulsion rate could climb to over 10%. Your Mirena IUD can shrink your fibroids. It is known that the IUD can shrink the overall size of your uterus. Women who suffer from uterine fibroids need to get to their gyno and evaluate their reproductive plan. In a September 2010 issue of  Contraception it was reported from Jiangsu, China that they have discovered that the progestin component, the levonorgestrel, may actually both suppress the growth and cause death of uterine fibroid cells! Older is Better in this Pregnancy Case

After 35 we label pregnancy as higher risk because of advance maternal age, but other pregnancy risk factors increase as well. Whether it’s fear of the risks of pregnancy as we get older, just pursuing what we want, or just plain being more ready to fill out the family, it’s been known for awhile that women over the age of 30 more likely to space their babies very close together. Birth spacing studies have not been very helpful to guiding our typical US patient, as many have been done in third world countries that have many more pregnancies per woman and a host of other risk factors that make the birth spacing literature harder to interpret. But in general, it’s thought to increase risks if you space your children closer than a conception 6 months after the last birth. But here’s some interesting new data from a Dutch study reported this mont: older moms actually tolerate this better than younger moms! And women over the age of 34 who conceive in less than 6 months after their prior...

Conception Configuration: Best Position(s) For Conception 15 minutes after sex, don't move! Well, in this study, it wasn't really sex, it was the gyno putting sperm where she wants it, right inside the uterus with medical insemination. What is the best sex position to get a baby made is a common question for the gyno. Inge M, Custers, PhD, from the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands has just done a study to show that laying mobilization in the supine (on your back) position for 15 minutes after intrauterine insemination may improve ongoing pregnancy rates. Using ovulation induction (taking medicine to help you ovulate) and medical insemination with a washed semen preparation is the most common form of infertility treatment and the pregnancy rates are much better with that lit...
