Where does the muscle lump in your uterus, known as a uterine fibroid actually sit? Physicians have begun to  classify them according to the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE ). Top, bottom, side, stalked, internal? Type 0 firoids are entirely within the uterine cavity it self. Type II is where more than 50% actually is sitting within the wall of the uterus. Type 1 fibroids sit part way into the wall, but mostly hanging intio the cavity of the uterus. Depending upon the location a fibroid can produce a lot of havoc or else get snipped off without a lot of fanfare. On the other hand, most fibroids can be ignored altogether if they are in the right spot,and not causing symptoms of pain or bleeding, so don't jump to judgment if you get told on pelvic exam you have a fibroid uterus as a diagnosis at your next gyno visit.
