If you have Post Endometrial Ablation Syndrome: Another Possible Explanation

After an endometrial ablation or after a NovaSure operation lucky ones are done with all their heavy menstrual bleeding, in fact most don't bleed a drop. But some women who find themselves still having periods or a return of periods after having had endometrial ablations may be suffering from what is called Endometrial Hyperplasia, which is an overgrowth of the lining of the uterus. Endometrial hyperplasia is a condition that is potentially pre-cancerous and should be treated. Often it can be treated with progesterone. After your gyno gives you the progesterone you need to give your uterus a bit of time to respond to the treatments before rechecking with biopsies, ultrasounds, D and Cs or a hysteroscope look into the uterus. Other gynos may then have you wait for the tests until you have been off the progesterone treatment for a bit. Because if you biopsy too soon after stopping the progesterone you may just be checking the short term effect of progesterone, you have to give it a month or two for the true effect of the lining to be unmasked.

Fortunately IUD pregnancy failures are rare. But if you have an IUD for contraception, and you get a positive pregnancy test, you probably ask yourself, what next? Post-Endometrial Ablation Syndrome

If you have had an endometrial ablation and have developed symptoms of pelvic pain you might have post endometrial ablation syndrome. What is post-endometrial ablation syndrome? It is a constellation of symptoms due to entrapped blood or tissue within a uterus that has previously undergone an endometrial ablation. We are able to diagnose this at Women's Health Practic e but occasionally other conditions are causing similar symptoms. Other complications of endometrial ablation include pregnancy, risks from pre-existing conditions such as a polyp or fibroid, an infection of the uterus, or a pregnancy.
