| Cottage Cheese Discharge of Yeast |
Most women recognize the symptoms of a yeast infection, but clinically, your gyno may be looking for something else entirely. Although some infections are hard to treat, we find the symptoms and the clinical appearance fairly similar regardless of the type of infection. Typically most yeast infections are caused by the organism candida albicans. There are about a half a dozen of related yeast species that cause the infection, and some are more sensitive to standard treatments than others. Lack of response to a particular therapy is the most common reason for failed therapy. But there are other related fungal infections that can produce the same irritation, at Women's Health Practice we like to culture if the infections are persistent.
